evergreen tree description
Scientifically known as Abies balsamea, the Balsam fir tree is a beautiful evergreen with high fragrance and is highly prized and used for Christmas trees. A native North American evergreen, the Balsam fir has a natural range from eastern and central Canada south to West Virginia and west to Minnesota. Besides Christmas trees, the wood is used in the papar industry, while the balsam fir's resin has many traditional uses, including being a natural, nontoxic rodent repellent. Balsam fir make an excellent natural evergreen screen, as well as providing a food source to many animals in your habitat. Typically a small to medium sized evergreen tree, the balsam fir will attain heights between 45 and 65 feet, displaying a natural conical shape. Additionnally, the balsam fir is said to grow upwards to a foot per year, making this a moderate grower. It tolerates a wide variety of soil and is tolerant of partial shade conditions. |

Please call us @ 1-888-803-8733 to check availability, current pricing and place your order. Shipping begins mid-April once the frost is out of the ground. All plants are shipped bare root from our family nursery in Midwestern Wisconsin. Please understand that commiting to a shipment date before this time frame just is not possible, however, if mother nature is kind and the ground thaws early then the trees will ship early. Every effort is made to ensure the plants you receive are healthy and ready to plant. However, it is impossible to guarantee planting results. Weather, soil conditions, insects and proper planting all play a part in successful growth. We are not responsible for the plants health if you choose to order a plant that will simply not grow or survive in your area based on the pictured zone map. Please order responsibly.
